Mechanical Roles for ESOL
Employability
This Mechanical Roles ESOL course, funded by ASF / UKPSF through North Lincolnshire Council, is designed to support ESOL learners interested in mechanical, engineering, or technical roles. Delivered in partnership with NOCN, the course combines English language development with sector-specific vocabulary, workplace communication skills, and employability knowledge needed for progression into training or employment. A dedicated Job Coach is available to support progression into work or further learning.
E1 to Level 2

OBJECTIVES
Course Objectives & Outcomes
Communicate confidently in mechanical and technical work settings
Develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and team members.
Use mechanical and technical language and terminology
Learn key vocabulary related to tools, machinery, equipment, safety procedures, and routine tasks used in mechanical roles.
Understand workplace expectations and health & safety requirements
Build knowledge of professional behaviour, safe working practices, and basic policies relevant to mechanical and technical environments.
Develop practical employability and technical workplace skills
Apply English and employability skills to real-life mechanical scenarios, including following instructions, reporting issues, and completing simple documentation.
Build confidence for progression into mechanical roles
Increase confidence to progress into further training, apprenticeships, or employment within mechanical, engineering, or technical sectors.
Progress towards recognised qualifications and employment
Prepare for progression into mechanical or technical training courses or employment, with personalised support from tutors and a Job Coach.
