Functional Skills
ESOL
This Functional Skills ESOL course, funded by ASF / UKPSF through North Lincolnshire Council, is designed with employability at its heart. Delivered in partnership with NOCN, the course supports learners to develop English language skills alongside essential maths and employability skills needed for work, further learning, and everyday life in the UK. A dedicated Job Coach is available to support progression into employment or training.

OBJECTIVES
Course Objectives & Outcomes
Communicate confidently in English for work and everyday life
Develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to communicate effectively with employers, colleagues, and service providers.
Improve English language skills for practical situations
Build confidence using English for tasks such as appointments, forms, emails, workplace conversations, and daily interactions.
Develop essential maths skills alongside English
Strengthen functional maths skills such as time, money, measurement, and problem-solving to support independence and employability.
Understand workplace language and expectations
Learn key vocabulary, instructions, and communication styles used in UK workplaces across a range of sectors.
Build confidence, employability, and progression skills
Apply English and maths skills to real-life work scenarios, supporting job readiness, confidence, and career development.
Achieve nationally recognised qualifications and progress
Work towards NOCN Functional Skills English and Maths and/or ESOL qualifications, with personalised support from tutors and a Job Coach to progress into employment, apprenticeships, or further education.
